Joshua Damian, M.D.

Joshua Damian, MD is a surgeon currently serving the Northern Arizona community as part of Flagstaff Surgical Associates since 2020. He treats patients of all ages and genders primarily at Flagstaff Medical Center. A recent addition to the FSA family, he brings his expertise in burn and reconstructive surgery, wound care, surgical critical care, and general surgery to the practice.

Dr. Damian received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, then transitioned to medical education at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. After completing medical school, he remained a Wildcat for his internship and surgical residency at the University, before completing a fellowship in both pediatric and adult Acute Burn & Reconstructive Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Texas – Medical Branch, and Shriner’s Burn Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas. He enthusiastically returned to Arizona to private practice in the beautiful mountains of Northern Arizona.

In addition to his passion for patient care, Dr. Damian also has interests in leadership, institutional change, and the advancement of surgical training. He is committed to medical education, and mentoring the next generation of resident surgeons. He has been honored for his indelible work ethic and commitment to higher education with multiple awards, including: induction into the Gold Humanism Society, Surgical Intern of the Year, Resident Educator of the Year, and as the Administrative Chief Resident for the UA General Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Damian is a major foodie (in search of the next amazing culinary dish) who enjoys traveling, live music and theater, architectural design, and supporting his local community at the farmer’s market.

Brett Dempsey, M.D.

Brett Dempsey MD FACS works as an acute care surgeon covering trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He has worked as a general surgeon in southern Illinois as well as Bangladesh and Togo West Africa. Dr. Dempsey then returned to the United States and completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Dempsey has an interest in emergency general surgery as well as global surgery. His four years in Bangladesh and year in Togo have greatly shaped his life and career. He always enjoys talking about his overseas experiences.

In Northern Arizona, Dr. Dempsey covers call at both Flagstaff Medical Center and Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation. He enjoys teaching surgical residents at both locations.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Dempsey enjoys many outdoor activities in Flagstaff with his wife and seven children. He also enjoys running with his dog and sampling international food.

Hang Ho, MD

Ralph Zane Kelley, DO

Dr. Kelley is originally from a small town in Southern Illinois called Nashville, near St Louis. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1997. Dr. Kelley attended medical school at Kansas City University. After completing an internship at University Hospital St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, he completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center-Horizon. Dr. Kelley then completed his Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship at the University of Nevada, University Medical Center in Las Vegas in 2011.

Dr. Kelley has worked as an Acute Care Surgeon at Flagstaff Medical Center since 2011 while simultaneously working at Tuba City Regional HealthCare Corporation where he still serves as Trauma Medical Director. As a Native American, Dr Kelley’s Indian Health Service Scholarship commitment brought him to Northern Arizona and he has never looked back. Trauma systems and centers on the Reservation are Dr. Kelley’s passions. Dr. Kelley is board-certified in both general surgery and surgical critical care.

Dr. Kelley (Zane) lives in Flagstaff with his wife Megan who is an artist. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, cabinet making, writing, and spending time with his wife and their 2 dogs. Dr. Kelley is a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
