Flagstaff Surgical has made the difficult decision to conclude Gastroenterology (GI) services effective July 31st, 2026. We assumed responsibility for providing GI care when the community was at risk of losing local access following the closure of the previous Gastroenterology practice. Our goal was to maintain continuity of care for patients in Flagstaff and determine whether a sustainable long‑term solution could be achieved.
Over the past year, we have made significant efforts to operate the clinic and recruit additional Gastroenterology physicians. Despite these efforts, ongoing national provider shortages—particularly in GI specialties—have made it increasingly challenging to recruit and retain physicians in Flagstaff. As a result, we are unable to continue offering this service in a sustainable and reliable manner.
We understand how important Gastroenterology care is and recognize that this decision may be concerning for patients. Our priority is to support patients through this transition and ensure appropriate next steps for ongoing care.
Patients impacted by this change will receive direct communication regarding care coordination, medical records, and referrals, as applicable.
We are grateful for the trust our patients placed in us and for the dedication of the staff who supported this service. This change does not impact our other Flagstaff Surgical service lines.
